C2 Proficiency (CPE) is used as entry or school-leaving exam at higher educational levels (Gymnasium, higher education such as Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences, Pädagogische Hochschulen, etc.). Successful candidates can study demanding subjects at the highest levels, including post-graduate and PhD programmes. C2 Proficiency (CPE) is also used in the corporate sector. Due to its level of difficulty, successful candidates clearly differentiate themselves in the workforce in regard to English language competency. Holding a C2 Proficiency (CPE) qualification is an exceptional achievement for non-native speakers of English.
