Cambridge B2 First (FCE) is an official Cambridge English qualification at upper-intermediate level, requiring competence in all the language skills set at Level B2 of the Council of Europe's Common Framework of Reference for Languages. 

At B2 level typical users can:

  • scan texts for relevant information
  • can make notes while someone is talking, or write a letter including non-standard requests
  • follow a talk on a familiar topic
  • keep up a conversation on a fairly wide range of topics

Who takes Cambridge B2 First (FCE)?

Cambridge B2 First (FCE) formerly known as the “First Certificate”, is the most widely taken exam Cambridge English Exam in Switzerland. Cambridge B2 First (FCE) is used as a school-leaving exam at almost all educational levels (Secondary School, KV, Gymnasium, higher education such as Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences). B2 First (FCE) is also used in the corporate sector. B2 First (FCE) is an asset to every CV and improves every application where English language skills are required.

How is Cambridge B2 First (FCE) recognised?

Cambridge B2 First (FCE) is recognised as an entry or school-leaving qualification at various educational levels (e.g. KV M-Profile, Gymnasium, institutions of higher education, etc.). Many companies today require Cambridge B2 First (FCE) as a minimum requirement in regard to English language competence and, therefore, recognise Cambridge B2 First (FCE) as a reliable qualification.
